Grandfather's Chest
Leaving A Legacy of Love |
Welcome!

There is an anonymous poem which asks, "What shall we give the
children?" That question is worthy of careful consideration, isn't it?
The poem describes the dynamic nature of the world in which we live,
and the peril of not
paying attention to this important question. In conclusion, the answer
to the question given is, "The memory of a good home." Even if we did
not have a good home as children (perhaps especially if we did not), we
should long for our children and their children to have a better
experience.
Each generation should learn from the previous one by cherishing the
good things and building on them, and by recognizing the harm caused by wrong
decisions so they might never again be known in our family. We
each have our own successes and failures, but if we can learn to rehearse
the successes and avoid the failures we move the history of our family
toward a brighter future.
This site is one
grandfather's attempt to glean wisdom from others and share it with
all. Together we can provide our grandchildren with memories which will
last a lifetime and which they in turn will pass on to the next
generation. We encourage you to be an active participant here as things
develop.
The name of the site is a reference to an antique
trunk purchased to
store treasures to be shared with our grandchildren when they visit. The greatest treasures we leave
our children are not those which can be held in our hands, but the
faith, heritage and traditions that define us as a family. The purpose of this site is to help one another do the best we can to meet that goal.
As the site
develops, you will
find resources, links, information, stories, etc. which follow this
theme. We invite you to email your suggestions and ideas to help us
recover the significant role which grandfathers should play in the
lives of their grandchildren. In the business of modern life, there
seems to be a rush to move forward without ever examining our roots. We
need to help our families do both.
You are invited to
come back often and be a part of developing a resource which will help
us all fulfill our obligation to our families. Share your tips with
others. What have you done with your grandchildren which deepened your
relationship with them? What could you have done better?
Let's enjoy the journey togother as we leave our legacy of love.
(I'm Migrating This Site - Hope To Have Everything Functional Soon!)
